I am a Doctoral Researcher at Western University, Canada and I work on the brightness variability of supermassive black holes in galaxies. I use this variability as a tool to learn more about the nature of the active galaxies I observe, and as to better understand the impact of black holes on galaxy evolution. I use advanced mathematical and statistical methods such as Wavelet Analysis and Continuous Auto-Regressive Moving Average (CARMA) models to analyze light curves (which trace brightness variations over time). I try to extract the maximum of informations from them, to either classify active galaxies or to establish correlations with physical parameters such as black hole mass or host galaxy luminosity.
